John Watson is your average medical doctor-turned-soldier. You know, aside from the part where he's a trained sharp-shooter who served in Afghanistan, and now runs around London with his barking mad flatmate, solving crimes.

John isn't haunted by the war. He misses the action and adrenaline of being in a battle zone. He needs something to get him out of bed in the morning. First, it was the high-stress environment of a busy A&E ward. Then it was Afghanistan. And now it's Sherlock Holmes.

He tries to be an ordinary bloke. He really does. He enjoys rugby, and even tries dating, but for some reason, his life and actions always gravitate back to Sherlock. There aren't even any real words to describe their relationship. After all, how do you succinctly put to words the fact that without Sherlock Holmes, John Watson would probably not be breathing right now. And, if we're honest, that's a fact that rings true in both directions.
